Flange Weld & Valve Testing Services in KSA

Testing a single tie-in weld should not mean filling a whole system with water. Our isolation tools pressure test just the weld, and our valve tests prove valves before they go back into the line.

Why test locally

Proving welds and valves without a full system test

When a new spool is welded into an existing system, a full hydrotest of the system may be impossible or far too slow. A flange weld test or in-line weld test solves this: an isolation tool is placed inside the pipe across the new weld, sealing a small annular space that is pressurized on its own. Only the weld sees test pressure, and only a few litres of water are needed.

Valves returning from overhaul, or new valves before installation, also need proof that the body holds pressure and the seat seals. Our valve testing covers shell and seat tests with calibrated equipment, recorded against the valve tag.

These tests sit naturally next to our hydrotest services and pre-commissioning work, using the same pumps, instruments and crews.

Methods

How weld and valve tests are done

The test pressure and hold time come from your test procedure or the governing code.

Flange weld testing

A tool seals against the flange face and inside the pipe, isolating the flange-to-pipe weld for a local pressure test.

In-line weld testing

A double-seal tool is positioned inside the pipe across a butt weld, pressurizing only the weld zone.

Valve shell test

The valve body is pressurized with the valve part open to prove the body and bonnet hold pressure.

Valve seat test

Pressure is applied to one side of the closed valve and leakage past the seat is checked.

Calibrated recording

Pressure is held and logged on calibrated gauges or recorders for the required time.

Isolation for hot work

Isolation tools can also seal a line upstream of a tie-in weld, where your procedures allow.

How we work

Our weld and valve testing process

Each test is run to an agreed procedure and recorded.

  1. Confirm the test

Weld or valve details, test pressure and hold time are confirmed from your procedure.

  2. Select the tool

Isolation tool or test fixture is chosen for the pipe size and schedule.

  3. Position and seal

The tool is placed across the weld, or the valve mounted, and seals checked.

  4. Pressurize

Pressure is raised in stages to the test value.

  5. Hold and inspect

Pressure is held and the weld or valve inspected while it is recorded.

  6. Release and record

Pressure is released, the tool removed and the result recorded.

Where it is used

FAQ

Flange weld and valve testing in KSA: common questions

What is flange weld testing?

It is a local pressure test of the weld between a flange and its pipe, using a tool that isolates the weld so only that small area is pressurized.

Can a weld test replace a full hydrotest?

That depends on your code, specification and client. Local weld tests are widely used for tie-ins and repairs where full system tests are impractical, but the decision rests with your engineering and inspection team.

What pipe sizes can you weld test?

Isolation tools are sized to the pipe bore and schedule. Send the line size and schedule and we will confirm a suitable tool.

Do you test valves on site?

Yes. We can carry out shell and seat tests on valves at your site or workshop, with recorded results.
